Cumbria Wildlife Trust's South Walney Nature Reserve

3 waymarked walking trails: red trail (3 miles), blue trail (2 miles),and orange trail (1 mile). Bike parking available. An off-road mobility tramper is available; a kind donation of £5 is appreciated for its use. Please book in advance by calling 01539 816300. No dogs (except assistance dogs).

Cumbria Wildlife Trust's Foulshaw Moss Nature Reserve

See the pair of ospreys that breed here in the summer. From the car park there are various routes along boardwalks, one of which which crosses one of the best areas of remnant vegetation to a viewing platform (1.5km/1 mile). Bike parking available. Dogs are welcome on leads.

Cumbria Wildlife Trust's Humphrey Head Nature Reserve

Watch the birds on the estuary as the tide forces them closer to shore – shellduck, curlew and redshank can be seen gathering on the saltmarsh around the head. The walk to the highest point on the Head and back is 2km/1.2 miles on grass with fairly small gradients. Dogs on leads are welcome.
