Here are some great ideas for enjoying an autumnal Tramper outing:

1. Roudsea Woods and Mosses

Lying at the head of the Leven Estuary, Roudsea Wood is one of Britain’s most important woodland sites and a delight to explore. Catch the gorgeous rich colours of the trees in the autumnal low afternoon sun. There is a lovely and challenging trail to explore - see here. You can hire a Tramper for free on Wednesdays, so check the calendar for availability.

2. Hampsfell via Eggerslack Woods

A challenging route up onto Hampsfell, taking you up back roads and through woods to the edge of open land, providing spectacular views of Morecambe Bay. Eggerslack Woods is a delightful, tranquil place with native trees, an abundance of wildlife and a wide range of holly, ivy and ferns. Thanks to local volunteers free Tramper hire is available by booking in advance here.

3. Sunderland Point

Explore an intriguing and magical place for both its heritage and nature. Thanks to local community volunteers, a Tramper is available for free hire on site - please book in advance.

Sunderland Point's location at the tip of the headland at the mouth of the River Lune led to it being chosen as the site of an out port for Lancaster at the start of the 18th century.
