We all recognise the value of getting out for walks with the family, quality time with friends, fresh sea air and spectacular views so we've been working hard to create accessible trails around Morecambe Bay for you to enjoy whatever your level of ability.
Whether you are elderly, struggle with disability or illness, or perhaps you walk with children in pushchairs, you can find the route that suits by taking note of the route grade descriptions below.

Free mobility scooter hire in Grange-over-Sands:
- For getting out and exploring Grange-over-Sands promenade and town, why not hire a mobility scooter or powered wheelchair completely free of charge from our Active Travel hub in Grange-over-Sands.
- The hub is ideally located at Grange Railway Station which is accessible by bus and train and with good parking facilities only 100m away.

Accessible trails
Explore a range of accessible routes, around Morecambe Bay - from Promenades, to woodland and fellside, there is something for everyone.
- Discover accessible routes on the Ways around the Bay Journey Planner
- Routes are graded as follows:
- Easy: Suitable for manual wheelchairs and pushchairs, as well as powerchairs and scooters. Routes are predominantly flat with largely smooth, bound or stable surfaces. There is usually a good level of supporting facilities nearby or within a short distance.
- Moderate: Best suited to assisted and powered wheelchair users, all-terrain type buggies and off-road powered mobility scooters. Routes may be on stony or soft, uneven ground with cambers and climbs, but with gradients of less that 1 in 10 unless on tarmac. Supporting facilities may not be available on route or very nearby.
- Hard: Only suitable for robust off-road powered mobility scooters. Routes may involve considerable height gain some distance from roads on rough tracks with loose surfaces, significant cambers and climbs and gradients up to 1 in 5. Supporting facilities are unlikely to be available on route or nearby.

Sunderland Point accessible trail: Easy
A beautiful and tranquil place teeming with wildlife and history where you'll find a world renowned artist's installation and the lovingly tended grave of a 17th century slave boy.
High view adventure over Hampsfell: Hard
A challenging route up to Hampsfell Hospice, taking you up back roads and through woods to the edge of open land, providing spectacular views of Morecambe Bay.
Roudsea Wood Nature Reserve trail: Moderate
Lying at the head of the Leven Estuary, Roudsea Wood is one of Britain’s most important woodland sites and a delight to explore.
